his information provides you with a supplemental background to the text on how computers and networks work.

Also read and review chapters 5, 6, & 7 in the text (you will need that information for assignment #2).

Once you have completed the readings you will research and write your first point paper.  See the section of the course site which provides information on what a point paper is and how to write one.  Be sure to follow the format provided in the example.

The topic of the point paper follows:  750-850 words

You have been asked by your employer to make a recommendation on moving some of the company’s information technology resources (servers, data, software, etc) to ‘the cloud’. 

You are required to find and read additional material about the cloud, what it is, how it works, and the advantages and disadvantages of using it.  Once you have a good understanding of the cloud, use the point paper format to present information about the cloud to your employer and make a recommendation.

Note that a point paper should be restricted to a single page so you will need to think carefully about what you want to discuss and make a good argument one way or the other. 

Remember that you can NOT copy any material directly into this paper.  It must be completely in your own words.  I will perform a SAFECheck to insure that no material has been cut and pasted.
