Who can answer this for me?

Google has a core philosophy, “To be the happiest, most productive workplace in the world” (Martin, 2014).  They accomplish this philosophy by giving their employees projects that inspire their own interests and the autonomy to simply have fun. 

Based upon Google’s approach and the information in the textbook on leadership, if you give employees the necessary tools to properly perform their jobs, they will be key contributors to the organization’s overall success. (Chapter 1, 3.1, Leadership)

In your initial posting, please answer the following three questions:

1. When you look at the timeline of the history of management theory and the accompanying historical events that triggered changes in the practice of management (Chapter 3, Section 1), do you think the Google philosophy of management signals a shift in how work is managed?
2. Could this philosophy work in your organization? Why or why not?
3. Would you feel comfortable managing in this type of environment?
